  1. Hybrid Meeting University Ave: Road and Water Project

    The City of Las Cruces Public Works Department will conduct a Public Awareness Meeting in person and virtually at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 to discuss roadway resurfacing and waterline replacement projects along a 1.10-mile portion of University Avenue. The resurfacing portion of the project will include the removal and replacement of asphalt (mill overlay). This work will affect University Avenue from Turrentine Drive to Triviz Drive. The waterline replacement project will occur along University Avenue from Turrentine. to Locust Street. The projects are essential in extending the life of the roadway and preventing the need for emergency waterline repairs. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, at City Hall, 700 N. Main St., or online via Zoom (https://las-cruces-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_IW401XqMQxC48sIu_8Y84Q).

    The Tai Chi Chuan form comprises a series of slow movements flowing from one to the next. Tai Chi was created to improve health, meditation, and self-defense. The movements are done slowly and calmly. The emphasis is on relaxation, correct posture, and the efficient use of muscles. Studies have shown that Tai Chi can help lower blood pressure and improve balance, coordination, and flexibility. It teaches stress management and basic self-defense, and conflict management skills. The class will be learning Professor Cheng Man-Ching’s 37-posture Tai Chi Chuan form. The instructor, Steven Haydu, has over thirty years of experience practicing and teaching Tai Chi Chuan.
