  1. Geometric Aljamia “Spring Break Camp”

    March 22, 2021, 10:00 AM - March 26, 2021 @ All activities are virtual and camp registration includes a pick-up kit with all of the necessary activity supplies.

    Campers in grades 1-8 learn to use a compass and protractor to explore tessellation patterns and create a geometric tile design with the Museum of Nature & Science; make rubbing plates with geometric designs for printmaking with the Museum of Art; and learn about the richness of Arabic culture and philosophy by making a Hamsa, which is a cultural symbol of peace that brings good fortune, health, and happiness with the Branigan Cultural Center. All activities are appropriate for all age groups. Campers are invited to a virtual tour of the exhibition, Geometric Aljamia, at the Museum of Art which inspired the camp activities.

  2. How to Keep your Kidneys Healthy

    Dr. Fidel Barrantes, a kidney specialist, will be speaking at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23. Dr. Barrantes will be discussing the relationship?between high blood pressure, diabetes, and the kidneys, and will cover ways to maintain healthy kidneys. Dr. Barrantes is the President of the New Mexico Kidney Foundation, a transplant nephrologist and clinical hypertension specialist with Renal Medicine Associates and Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. He has a special interest in kidney disease education; health literacy, especially in disadvantaged and minority communities; kidney transplantation outcomes in the elderly and other high-risk groups; and in translational medicine which is focused on making sure disease treatments proven in research are implemented in clinical treatments.
