Railroading from the Past into the Future, Camp for 3rd-5th grade

Join the Las Cruces Railroad Museum for a fascinating look into the history of trains and railroading! Compete in a train car switching event and get started building your own model train layout with trees and buildings, and learn to communicate in code like railroad employees. From the past into the future, this camp will explore all sorts of trains.

Tai Chi Chuan

Tai Chi Chuan is taught as a form comprised of a series of slow movements flowing from one to the next. Tai Chi was created to improve health, meditation and self-defense. The movements are done slowly and calmly. The emphasis is on relaxation, correct posture, and the efficient use of muscles. Studies have shown that Tai Chi can help lower blood pressure, and improve balance, coordination, and flexibility. It teaches stress management and basic self-defense and conflict management skills.

50+ Walking Program

The 50 Plus Walking Program/0-60 in 16 weeks, is designed to get you walking up to 60 minutes in 16 weeks! It begins with 20-minute walks, three times a week, and works up to 60 minutes. Distance is not the priority, movement is. No racing or competition, just a focus on health and well-being. Already an active walker? This is a great way to meet new people, walk and socialize! Participants walk at their own pace for a set time. Distance will be tracked every day to monitor individual improvement. Every fourth week will be an optional field trip at another location.

Gymnastics Parent & Me / Beginner

For participants that have not attended gymnastics before; skill will be assessed at the discretion of the instructor. Participants found to be in the wrong grouping for their skill level, will be moved to the appropriate class. Ages 3-5 years. Participant needs to wear comfortable clothing they can move in. Gymnastics Intermediate

Recommended ages 4 - 13 This class is for participants that have completed beginners class; skill will be assessed at the discretion of the instructor. Participants found to be in the wrong grouping for their skill level, will be moved to the appropriate class. Participants need to wear clothing they can move in. A parent must be present with children during all class times. No unattended children are allowed in the facility or park area.
