The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department presents a new E-Sports Room at Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave., and will host gaming tournaments.

The E-Sports Room will have drop-in play every Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Aug. 19, 2022 and tournaments will be played every second and fourth Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 26, 2022 at the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center.

Open play for the E-Sports Room will be by drop-in only, on a first-come, first-serve basis, free of charge.

Tournaments require pre-registration prior to each tournament and end the day before the tournament. Registration starts Aug. 12, 2022, and will be offered online at https://www.las-cruces.org/play. First-, second-, and third-place prizes will be given for each tournament.

The cost to participate in each tournament is $15 per participant. Each participant will play a minimum of two games in a double-elimination tournament format. Tournaments brackets will be divided by age groups 13- to 17-years old and 18 and older.

Consoles that tournaments will be played on are PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department E-Sports program is open to all ages and ability levels.
