JIC Notes January 8, 2021

OBJECTIVE: To streamline communication between local government agencies during the COVID-19 response. Partner organizations include city and county representatives, local hospitals, the Department of Health, jail and prison facilities, first responders, the Las Cruces Public School district, the Town of Mesilla, City of Anthony, City of Sunland Park and Village of Hatch.  

JIC members collaborate on a weekly conference call at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. The notes compiled during that call are made available at and

Regional updates:  

City of Anthony Chief Vanessa Ordoñez, Anthony Police Dept.      Oscar Dominguez, City Manager  Officers are receiving the vaccine.   PPE supply is good.        Board meeting tonight at 6 PM. 

City of Sunland Park 

Capt. Dennis Schoen, Sunland Park Fire  No report. 

City of Las Cruces

LC City Council has put together a COVID-19 vaccine task force.  
LC Utilities will be giving out 2 disposable face masks to resident customers.

Memorial Medical Center Ryan Perkins  1) Today the 1st day of 2nd shots are being administered. 2) Pending quantities on next vaccine. 3) Census is OK right now, but preparing for possible surge.

Ben Woods  1) In second round of 1st dose of vaccine. 2) Census is manageable, but patients they are seeing are very sick. 3) Be cautious—still have aways to go.
