The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Youth Services Section will offer tutoring services beginning Monday, September 14 through the Out-of-School Time Program. The sessions will provide students in Kindergarten through fifth grade – 5 to 11 years old, a safe, structured, and quiet space to get assistance while they are in the remote learning phase of the school year.
The tutoring sessions will be offered at three different locations: The Henry R. Benavidez Community Center, 1045 McClure Road, East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Drive, and Frank O’ Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave. The program and activities will follow the Governor’s guidelines on social distancing. Face coverings must be worn during the program and hand washing stations will be provided. The availability of sessions will be based on location and students can only participate in one session per day. Space is limited.
Registration will begin Friday, September 4 through Thursday, September 10, at 5:30 p.m. There are two options for registering your child – online lottery registration or a drive-through lottery registration:
Online Registration - Friday, September 4 to Thursday, September 10, 5:30 p.m.
Drive-Through Registration - Tuesday, September 8 to Thursday, September 10.

The selection for the tutoring sessions is determined by random lottery selection only. Participants who are selected for a session will be notified on Friday, September 11 by email or text message.
Below are the session times. Participants may put in their top three choices for sessions; registration for sessions will depend on demand and space availability as we currently are limited to the number of registrants per session. More sessions may be allowed depending on availability.

AM Session: 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Session: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
PM Session: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Session: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Monday to Friday
AM Session: 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Session: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
