History Notes--100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment: Voting Rights for women in the Southwest, by Roberta Scott.

Roberta Field Scott was born and raised in Dona Ana County, in Brazito on a farm. She has a BA in History from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA from NMSU in Las Cruces. She was the Asst. Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Dona Ana Campus and later moved to Los Lunas where she was the Director of the SBDC where she retired from UNM. She is currently the Treasurer of the Historical Society of New Mexico (HSNM). She will discuss how suffrage came about, what Southwest States were the beginning of suffrage in the United States. The presentation also discusses what took so long for New Mexico to offer suffrage to women. She also touches on voting rights for Black, Native American and Asian women.
