GENERAL PUBLIC ACCESS COMPUTERS
Thomas Branigan Memorial Library offers free computer access in the public computer labs at Branigan Library and the Sage Café Branch. The computers shut down 15 minutes before the library closes.

WIRELESS INTERNET
Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and the Sage Café Library provide free, unfiltered wireless access to the internet for the public to use with their personal netbooks, laptops and other mobile devices.

CHILDREN'S COMPUTERS
Computers for children are located in the Children's area of the main library. These computers contain educational games for children under the age of 11 years old. These computers have no internet access.
YOUNG ADULT COMPUTERS
Internet computers for Teens (grades 6 to 12) are located in the Young Adult's area of the main library. Young Adults must have their library cards indicating they have parental permission with them in order to use the computers.
WIRELESS PRINTING
Wireless printing is available anywhere using the Library's SmartAlec website on your laptop or mobile device. Everyone using the Library's SmartAlec wireless printing is required to register with the SmartAlec service using your Library Card or Pin number. If you are a guest or do not have a Library Card, you will use a system generated Library Card and Pin for printing purposes only.
Mobile device users, such as smart phones and tablets must download the SmartAlec app in order to print.
1. Go to the Library’s Smart Alec wireless printing website at https://smartalec.smartalecprint.com/smartalec?ID=LasCrucesNM
2. Click the “First Time User” button
3. Library Members with a Library Card will replace the auto-generated numbers with their Library Card number and PIN. Guests or anyone without a current Library Card may use the auto-generated number and PIN
4. Enter your email address or your cell phone number. (If you enter your email address you will be able to use it to sign in instead of your library card/account number. You will still need the PIN.)
5. Click the Submit button. This will bring you back to the main SmartAlec webpage with a message that your account was created successfully. In addition, you will receive an email or text message with your account information.
6. Now that you have an account you can log into the SmartAlec website, or begin to use the IOS or Android App.
1. Install the SmartAlec@Your Library app from the app store on your device.
2. Open the app and sign in with the Smart Alec account credentials you created the first time you used Smart Alec. (You can use either your library card number and PIN or your email address and PIN to sign in.)
3. Click on the Accept button.
4. Close the app. The app does not need to be open in order to print. The app does however have to be signed in with your account credentials in order to connect to the Smart Alec printer.
5. Open the item you want to print. Click on the More Options (3 dots) in the top right corner. (Different apps may have different commands to print. You may need to click on something different, depending on what app you are in. The most common ways to print from an app are using the Share icon or the More options (3 dots) icon.
6. Click on the "Select a printer" dropdown menu. (You may need to scroll to see all options.)
7. Choose the Smart Alec Printer.
8. You may get a popup message, asking if you want to use Smart Alec. Click on the "OK" button.
9. Click the Printer icon to print.
10. Optional: Open the Smart Alec app to view a list of your active print jobs. (You can print without opening this app.)
11. Go to the Print Release Station at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library’s Public Computer Lab and sign on. You will use the same library card number (or email) and PIN you used in the SmartAlec app.
Printable Instructions for Android Devices
1. Install the SmartAlec@Your Library app from the App Store.
2. Open the app and sign in with the Smart Alec account credentials you created the first time you used Smart Alec. (You can use either your library card number and PIN or your email address and PIN to sign in.)
3. Click on the Accept button.

5. Open the item you want to print. Click the "Share" icon.
6. On the next screen, click the black and white print icon at the bottom of the page.
7. A Printer Options window will pop up. Use your thumb and forefinger to zoom (pinch out) the preview. It will get larger and then open in a new window.
8. On the zoomed screen click the Share icon.
9. From the Share options choose the Smart Alec Printing icon. (If you do not see the Smart Alec Printing icon, you will need to select the More option and turn the Smart Alec option on. Once it is turned on, you can select the Smart Alec Printing icon.)
10. Your item will be uploaded. When it is finished, a link to send will appear. Click on "Send." It will be sent to the Smart Alec print queue.
11. Optional: Open the Smart Alec app to view a list of your active print jobs. (You can print without opening this app.)

3. Click the Browse button to locate the item you wish to print.
4. Click the Upload button.
5. Go to the Print Release Station at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library’s Public Computer Lab and sign on. You will use the same library card number (or email) and PIN you used in the SmartAlec website.
