The Las Cruces Museum System (LCMS) preserves over 10,000 objects that support the museum mission. Collection categories include:
The LCMS invites researchers to utilize the collections in their scholarly research. Please contact the Collections Manager at least 4 weeks prior to your proposed visit to discuss your research and associated objects. Photographs and reproductions of LCMS collections may be used with permission and proper citation.
The LCMS Collections Committee meets quarterly to discuss potential additions to the museum collection. If you would like to donate something to the collection, please contact the Collections Manager to set up a meeting to review the donation.
Our permanent collections can be viewed online through our Argus portal. The portal displays limited information about objects in the collections and is being updated constantly.
The portal also displays the LCMS objects on exhibit at each museum and an online exhibit. The LCMS will be developing further online exhibits as part of our Luce Foundation-funded grant project that explores artists of the Borderlands. This is part of our ongoing efforts to expand access and provide as much information as possible about our collections to the public.
