The Operations Division is responsible for providing services to mitigate the effects of a variety of emergency situations including:

  • Fires
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Physical Entrapments
  • Releases of Hazardous Materials


Resources within the Operations Division include 142 uniformed men and women who deliver service from seven fire stations, staffed 24-hours per day. Most engine companies are staffed with a lieutenant, a driver/operator, and two firefighters. The department also staffs two ladder truck companies with a lieutenant, a driver/operator, and two firefighters.

Stations 1 and 4 house a ladder truck company. The fire department offers engine-based paramedic services on several of its apparatus.

Wider Range of Services

Operations Division Firefighters inspect all commercial facilities in Las Cruces on an annual basis. In addition to emergency work, Operations Division members provide a wide range of services to the community, including blood-pressure screenings, tours of fire stations and apparatus, and fire and life safety presentations within the community.
