Traffic Signals

The Traffic Engineering Traffic Signal Crew is responsible for maintaining and repairing 108 traffic signals within the municipal boundaries of Las Cruces. In addition, they maintain three traffic signals in the town of Mesilla. All signals within the city limits are checked routinely to ensure equipment is working  properly and according to specifications. An estimated 30 miles of underground interconnect communication line blankets the city and must also be maintained and repaired as needed in order to ensure proper communication between traffic signals and our Traffic Signal Lab. Traffic Engineering also controls 100% of the 33 school zone radios throughout the city. In addition, the technology of wireless communication as well as wireless video is used throughout the City of Las Cruces.

To report a traffic signal malfunction to our office, call 541-2505 Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. After-hour emergency calls can be reported to our dispatch at 526-0500. A 24 hour on-call technician will report to the incident within one hour.
