Reading Art Book Club
The Reading Art Book Club (RABC) is dedicated to exploring the connections between art and literature by reading and discussing books.  As much as possible, books selected will relate, echo, or enhance the museum’s varied exhibitions.

Meetings are at 2:30 the second Wednesday of every month at the Museum of Art. 

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 10th

The selections for December are:

“The Art of Contemporary Pottery”
by Kevin A. Hluch
which explores the idea: can a purely utilitarian form, such as a simple pot, vase, or plate, truly be considered a great work of art?

OR

“A Potter’s Companion”
edited by Ronald Larson
which is a fascinating collection of literature exploring the history, aesthetics and philosophy behind making pots

These books relate well to the new show opening December 12th at the Museum of Art:  “Innovation and Change: Great Ceramics from the Arizona State University Art Museum Collection”  including seventy-five pieces by leading international ceramic artists – a variety of abstract, functional, and figurative pieces that exemplify the versatility of clay in contemporary art.

New members are always welcome.
