These Articles of Incorporation, made and entered into this 13th day of June, A.D., 1894, by and between the persons hereafter named,

Witnesseth: That the undersigned Mrs. Mary S. McFie, Mrs. Kate Raymond, Mrs. Emma R. Dawson, Mrs. Emelia Ascarate, Mrs. Ida M. Llewellyn, all residents of the county of Dona Ana and territory of New Mexico, have this day, in pursuance of and in accordance with the statutes and laws of said territory, organized and formed themselves into a body corporate, for the purpose hereinafter set forth. And in compliance with the provisions of said laws, we declare as follows:

First, That the name of said body corporate is and shall be Woman's Improvement Association.

Second, the objects and purposes of said organization are, general improvement in and about town of Las Cruces, New Mexico, by the purchase, construction, laying out and erection of public buildings, parks, libraries, cemeteries, hearses, and other beneficial, useful, ornamental and charitable improvements. To own, hold, sell, convey and mortgage real estate and personal property necessary for the carrying out of the purposes of this corporation.

Third, the capital stock of this Association shall be Ten thousand ($10,000) dollars, divided into one hundred (100) shares of the par value of one hundred ($100) dollars each.

Fourth, the time of the existence of said organization shall be fifty years.

Fifith, the number of directors of said organiation shall be five, and the names of those directors who shall managed the affairs of the organization for the first three months are Mrs. Mary S. McFie, Mrs. Kate Reymond, Mrs. Emma R. Dawson, Mrs. Emelia Ascarate, Mrs. Ida M. Llewellyn.

Sixth, that the principal place of business of said organization shall be at the town of Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, and Territory of New Mexico.
