El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro

• Description: During the colonial period, the early settlements of New Mexico were connected to the outside world by the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, or the Royal Road to the Interior Country. The route followed the the Rio Grande valley south to El Paso and then through the provinces of New Spain to Mexico City.
