Science and Nature
The Las Cruces Museum of Natural History is located in the Mesilla Valley Mall and is dedicated to broadening people’s understanding of natural history, science, and the environment of New Mexico and the Chihuahuan Desert. We offer exhibits and educational programs geared towards this mission. The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center houses more than 40 live animals from our area.

Admission
Admission to the Museum of Natural History is FREE.
The museum is ACCESSIBLE and open to the public.

Every Body Eats
September 26 - January 4, 2009

What's in the food you eat? Is breakfast really that important? How have food and portion sizes changed over the years? Are you eating enough fruits and vegetables? Families, children, and school groups can find out the answers to these questions and more in Every Body Eats! a highly interactive exhibition that explores nutrition and how to make informed healthy choices. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry's newest small exhibit, Every Body Eats! The 800 sq. ft. exhibit will feature hands-on interactives on nutrition that appeal to children and their families. The exhibit will feature bilingual (English/Spanish) text panels.

Reception will be held Friday, September 26, 2008,
6 – 8 pm

Nature Center
Chihuahuan Desert Animals Exhibit
Permanent Exhibit

Amphibians and reptiles, fish, and arachnids of the Chihuahuan Desert and New Mexico – That’s exactly what you’ll see on display in the Nature Center at the LCMNH.  The Nature Center has a broad collection of 106 live animals on display consisting of 6 frog and toad species, 1 salamander, 10 lizard, 7 snake, 5 turtle, 1 fish, and 5 arachnid species.  Come see us on Friday afternoons for our collection-wide feeding.
