Certified Officer Training
Program
We are currently accepting applications for the position of Police Recruit. A tentative start date for the next academy is January 2011. We currently are not accepting applications for the position of Experienced Police Officer / Lateral Officer
Minimum Requirements
- Age 19 by start date of the police academy
- United
States Citizenship (born or naturalized)
- Must have
high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid driver's
license
- No Felony Convictions
- No
DWI or misdemeanor convictions within past three years (some misdemeanors
will disqualify)
- No transportation of illegal drugs;
drug usage may disqualify

Wages And Benefits
- $3,000 sign on bonus with 36 month commitment
- $15.50
per hour ($2,686.66 monthly) starting the first day of the Police
Academy as a Police Recruit
- $17.83
per hour ($37,086 annual) as an Officer Trainee upon successful
completion and graduation of Police Academy
- $19.95
per hour ($41,500 annual) after successful completion of one
year probationary status as an Officer Trainee
- Optional
benefits after 30 days of employment in the Police Academy include
health, dental, vision, life, disability, and long-term care
- 20
year retirement plan through the Public Employers Retirement Association
- Other
benefits: take home car program; four day work schedule; service
weapon, ballistic vest and uniforms provided
