A subject is in critical condition after a small gathering turned deadly. Police responded to the 100 block of East Cambridge regarding a person being shot. Police found Isreal Tafoya. 26, of Las Cruces shot in the stomach. Tafoya was airlifted to Thomason Hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Police conducted a high risk stop on a white Ford 150 vehicle matching the description given by witnesses. Two males were taken into custody and one was subsequently charged with involvement with the shooting. Police charged Manuel Saeaz, 29, of Las Cruces with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. This is 3rd degree felony and carries a minimum sentence of three years. Saeaz was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center under a $20,000 cash bond.
