Registration To Be Held For 2010 Spring Afterschool Program -- Monday, September 28, 2009 at 14:41

The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Section will accept registration applications for the Afterschool Program’s 2010 spring session from Monday, November 30th through Friday, December 4th at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley from 8:00am to 9:00pm. Parents will have one week to fill out one application for up to five children and applications will be drawn through a lottery process. The spring session will be held from January 6, 2010, through May 25, 2010, at Hermosa Heights Elementary, Conlee Elementary, Alameda Elementary, Highland Elementary and Fairacres Elementary. There are a maximum of 60 students per site. The Afterschool Program is for children ages five to 12 years of age and children must be enrolled in elementary school. The lottery process is a random selection method of filling classes. The City of Las Cruces has determined the best way to ensure a fair and equal system of registration for youth programs, is with a lottery system. Applications will be drawn by Parks and Recreation staff on Saturday, December 5th. The parents of the drawn participants will be notified that day. Remaining applicants will be pulled and placed on a waiting list. Cost is $276.00 for the 92-day session. Payment will be accepted at Meerscheidt Recreation Center from Monday through Friday, December 7th-December 21st, between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. Parents must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate at the time of payment. Acceptable payment methods are cash, cashier’s check, money order, traveler’s check and major credit cards (no debit cards). No phone registrations will be accepted.
