Presiding Judge

As Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court, Melissa Miller-Byrnes is responsible for supervising administrative matters related to the Municipal Court which includes court personnel, budget, docket management, as well as establishing internal and external policies and procedures. The Presiding Judge also administers the Las Cruces Municipal Court Drug Court Program.

In 2006, Judge Miller-Byrnes became a Fellow of   the Institute for Court Management through the National Center for State Courts.  Judge Miller-Byrnes is also member of several professional organizations including:

• the National Association for Court Management,
• the National Association of Drug Court Professionals,
• the American Judges Association,
• the New Mexico Municipal Judges Association,
• the New Mexico Municipal League,
• the Women’s State Bar Association and
• the Tonali Legal Alliance for Women.
