Celebrating a Century of Service

Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting - A.R.F.F

The Las Cruces Fire Department's Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (A.R.F.F.) team is comprised of firefighters, from fire station #3, who have received specialized training in aircraft rescue fire fighting. This training is mandated by Federal Administration Regulation 139, Subsection D, Section 139.319, and enforced by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Currently this team responds from fire station #3 for airport standbys, air shows, and airport emergencies. With this team in place the city of Las Cruces has the ability to bring in large aircraft (over 30 seats) into the Las Cruces International Airport on a provisional basis. This generates revenues for the city of Las Cruces through: landing fees, aviation fuel, motels, rental vehicles, and restaurants.
