Fire Academy
The Las Cruces Fire Academy is a 17-week paramilitary style academy. Cadets are instructed in the skills of Firefighting, Hazardous Materials Response, Technical Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, and Emergency Medical Care.
Strict discipline, teamwork, and safety are the foundation of the academy. Cadets must excel in academics, skill evaluations, physical fitness, and teamwork to successfully complete the academy. The high standards established by the department create an atmosphere where a commitment to excellence is essential.
