Celebrating a Century of Service

Prevention

The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for providing inspection services to the community of Las Cruces. These services include pre-construction site plan reviews, construction final inspections, existing commercial building inspections, automatic fire sprinkler plan review and testing, and fire alarm plan review and testing. Existing commercial buildings and businesses have become accustomed to seeing the Bureau staff in the role of fire safety inspectors and consultants.

The Bureau also conducts investigations into all fires which occur within the City. Determining the origin and cause of a fire plays a prime role in preventing future incidents. Bureau personnel remain "on-call" 24 hours a day to respond to fire incidents.
