Attic Fire Damages Residence

The Las Cruces Fire Department quickly extinguished an attic fire that damaged a Central Las Cruces home this afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to 1720 N. Willow just after 3:30 pm to a report of a structure fire. The residents, who were home at the time of the blaze, were able to evacuate without incident.

Initial arriving crews reported heavy smoke coming from the roof and encountered fire inside the attic. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes. The quick actions of firefighters contained the blaze to the attic. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation at this time.
