Vision Revsion: New Mexico Poets on the Page -- Dennis Daily and Connie Voisine
March 23 May 19
A collaboration with the New Mexico State University Archives and the Creative Writing Program at NMSU, this exhibit presents a glimpse into the works of New Mexico poets Lorenzo Torrez, Margaret Page Hood, Eugene Manlove Rhodes, and Keith Wilson. These four poets wrote about southern New Mexico’s people, ranching life, cultural identities, and our Chihuahuan desert environment. The working notes, drafts and final manuscripts they left behind, held in the NMSU Archives, provide insight into the poet’s mind at work, as words are shaped into meaning.
Join us as we celebrate National Poetry month, a nationwide exploration of the ways poetry impacts the lives of all Americans. As part of the exhibit, an interactive poetry Creation Room will provide a desk, typewriter, writing instruments, paper, and ideas for getting started writing poems. Visitors will have the opportunity to put their own work on display in the exhibit for others to see. Weekend writing workshops for all ages, poetry readings and lectures will be part of the exhibit schedule.
