Traffic Calming Program:
Las Cruces residents want to keep their neighborhood streets safe and the City supports this through encouraging residents to participate in the "Respect Our Neighborhoods and Drive 25!" program.
The City of Las Cruces implements a comprehensive Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program (NTCP) in order to effectively address neighborhood concerns about issues such as:
- Cut-Through Traffic
- Pedestrian/Bicyclist Safety
The goal of the NTCP is to enhance and protect the quality of life throughout the City by making neighborhoods safer for pedestrians, bicyclists, residents living in these neighborhoods, and the motoring public by altering the behavior of motorists and addressing these issues. This can be accomplished with resident participation and the joint efforts of the City of Las Cruces Transportation Department and the Las Cruces Police Department via the Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) using education, enforcement and engineering solutions.
