Veterans Day Parade is Saturday Afternoon2018

The annual Veterans Day Parade planned for Saturday afternoon in downtown Las Cruces will temporarily block portions of three major roadways and will include the firing of a ceremonial cannon to mark the beginning of the procession.

The Veterans Day Parade begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, near the intersection of Main Street and Lohman Avenue. The parade will travel north along Main Street, through the Downtown Mall, to the roundabout on the north end of the mall. It will then proceed south along Water Street back to Amador Avenue.

Spectators can line the sidewalks of Main Street and Water Street with the best viewing most likely along Main.

A ceremonial cannon will be fired to initiate the beginning of the parade. Nearby residents are forewarned to anticipate the firing of the cannon at 3 p.m.

Roadways expected to be closed for the parade are:

  • Lohman Avenue between Water Street and Church Street.
  • Amador Avenue between Church Street and Water Street.
  • Main Street from El Paseo Road to Picacho Avenue.
  • Water Street from Mountain Avenue to Lohman Avenue.

Those roadways are expected to be closed from 1 p.m. until the completion of the parade. Motorists traveling through the downtown area Saturday afternoon are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

Parking for parade spectators can be found at Las Cruces City Hall and in the parking lots adjacent to the Downtown Mall.
