Open Sketch at the Las Cruces Museum of Art will be December 13th 2018

Join the Las Cruces Museum of Art, 491 N. Main St., from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 13th for a relaxing evening of open sketch in the gallery. Featured subjects will be the art pieces in the “Birds in Art” exhibition as well as mounted bird specimens from the museum collections.

The museum will provide all drawing materials and optional seating.

“Birds in Art” is a traveling exhibit from the Lee Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, Wisconsin. Innovative artistic approaches and intriguing mediums – from bronze, wood, and Montana dendritic steatite to watercolor, oil, pyrography, and solar etching – convey the character, essence, and surroundings of birds. The annual “Birds in Art” exhibition features dynamic and contemplative interpretations of avian marvels via original paintings, sculptures, and graphics created within the last three years.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday. For information, visit the City’s Museums System website or call 575/541-2137
