Griggs Avenue Valve Exercising Activities Scheduled Tonight, April 10th, 2018
Residents and businesses in an area including south Main Street, Griggs Avenue, and May Street will experience low water pressure, discolored water, and possible no water from 9 p.m. today, April 10, to 1 a.m. Wednesday, April 11.
The City of Las Cruces Water Section will be exercising valves in the area, related to the Church Water Conversion project. This work is being done in preparation of water line tie ins.
The affected area includes: Griggs Avenue, from Church to Water streets, and Griggs Avenue to May Street.
No residences or businesses are anticipated to lose water service. However, residents in the affected area may notice discolored water due to iron and manganese deposits in water lines. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24-hours. If it does not, outside and cold-water faucets should be flushed for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City, at 575/526-0500, for assistance. The TTY number, for people who are hearing impaired, is 575/541-2182.
