Temporary Closure of Water Street 2017
Water Street between Bowman and Amador Avenues will be closed for four weeks beginning June 26 as part of the Church-Water Street Two-way Conversion Project.
“The closure of the two-lane street, which currently has one-lane open, will reduce the overall amount of time Water Street would need to be closed by two weeks,” said Mandy Guss with the City’s Economic Development department. “The full closure will minimize impacts to businesses on that one-block section and help ensure the quality of the rehabilitation, avoiding unforeseen cuts in new pavement.”
City staff has met with the businesses on Water Street and will continue to proactively communicate about this project.
An open house is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Las Cruces Museums, 411/491 N. Main St. The public is encouraged to attend, ask questions, and learn more about the project. Open houses will be held monthly through the duration of the project.
