Fall Youth/Family Programs 2017

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will hold registration for Fall Youth/Family Programs starting August 14, 2017 at the following locations during regular business hours:

  • Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1501 E. Hadley Ave. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday
  • Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave.8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday
  • Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave.7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, noon – 7:30 p.m. Sunday
  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday

Activities are held at the Frank O’Brien Papen Center, 304 W. Bell unless otherwise noted.

Park It! Big Movements for Little Kids (Open Activity – No Registration)

The Recreation Mobile Unit is coming to a neighborhood near YOU! Every week, the Mobile Unit will be out in a community park with fun and games for the under 6 crowd and their caregivers to enjoy together. Enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and the joy of play! Park schedules and dates TBA.

When: Mondays and Tuesdays, September 11 – December 5

Times: 1 – 2 p.m.

Cost: Free

Ages: Pre-school aged children (Caregivers must stay with their children)

Hands on Discoveries

Little kids can do big things! Join us to explore the way the world works in a fun and hands-on environment.

When: Tuesday/Thursday Session I: September 12 – October 5 Session II: October 10 – November 2 Session III: November 7 – December 7, No sessions the week of November 20

Time: noon to 1 p.m.

Cost: $30.00 / 4-week session

Ages: 2 – 6 years old (Caregivers must stay with their children)

Homeschool Fun and Fitness

Join Stephanie and other homeschool families twice a week for activities and games focused on making fitness fun!

When: Tuesday/Thursday Session I: September 5 – September 28 Session II: October 3 – October 26 Session II: October 31 – November 30, No sessions the week of November 20

Time: 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $30.00 / 4-week session

Ages: Kindergarten – 5th grades (Caregivers must stay with their children)

Messy Masterpieces

Hands on slimy, gooey, messy FUN! Participants will get to make different project each week, and you won’t have the clean-up at home!

When: Tuesday Session I: September 5 – September 26 Session II: October 3 – October 24 Session III: October 31 – November 28, No class on November 21

Times: 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Cost: $15 per 4-week session

Ages: 2 years old – PreK (Caregivers must stay with their children)

Learn to Ride

This outdoor hands-on class teaches 3-10 years of age the safe, easy and effective way to learn to ride on two wheels. Using the “balance first” method, parents help get their children rolling while the child does most of the work. Participants learn the basics of balancing, starting, stopping and steering a bike. This is a 4-week program; space is limited to 10 participants. Parent participation and support are essential. Each adult may bring no more than two children, age 3 years old and up. Children must be able to put their feet flat on the ground when sitting on their bicycle seats.

When: Wednesday/Friday September 6 – September 29

Times: 3 – 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $30.00 per 4-week session

Ages: 3 – 10 years old (Caregivers must stay with their children)

Make it and Take It – My Buddy and Me

Each week will be a different family-friendly project, designed to get kids and their VIPs (very important persons/parents) having fun and relaxing together. The projects will be made and ready to go home the same night! September will be paint-based projects. See the CLC website under the “Play” tab, or check our Facebook page for examples of upcoming projects and dates.

When: Friday September 8 – September 29

Times: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Cost: $10.00 each or $30.00 per 4-week session

Ages: Grades K+ and their VIP (Caregivers must stay with their children)
