Animal Service Center

Our Mission

Rachel Ray 100K Challenge

The Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) is the only open admission municipal animal shelter operating in Dona Ana County and The City of Las Cruces. The ASCMV, governed by a Joint Powers Agreement, includes the City of Las Cruces and Dona Ana County, established in 2008. The ASCMV is an extremely high-intake shelter compared to similarly sized locations with less human population to care for the animals. In 2013, ASCMV received nearly 13,000 animals!

The ASCMV is a progressive animal service center providing the public with the ability to reclaim lost animals and relinquish strays. The ASCMV cares for, feeds, and provides needed surgical, medical and veterinary care as well as, companionship, socialization, training and love. We offer public spay and neuter surgeries, microchips, City of Las Cruces and Dona Ana County pet license, and local adoption events, where you can find us at a variety of venues. We provide opportunities for volunteers to share in the loving experience of helping the strays and abandoned animals left at the ASCMV by assisting with the socialization of special needs adoptable animals, managing donations and fundraising efforts and through the dedicated assistance of relocating the animals into foster homes, rescues and permanent, FURever homes. Check out our sponsor, outreach and ASCMV Facebook page on ways you too, can help!
