Welcome to the Las Cruces Utility(LCU) Services Section. You will provide detailed descriptions and important information about each service by navigating the specific tabs in the left column.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES: Provides ancillary services for the operating utilities. The ancillary services include financial, budgetary, rates and regulations, meter repair, measurements, meter reading, field services, warehousing, dispatch, and new installations. The services are provided for customers of the Las Cruces Utilities.

WATER RESOUCES: WATER Production produces about 6.5 billion gallons of safe drinking water each year. The LCU’s water wells draw water from two deep aquifers – the Mesilla and Jornada bolsons. The section maintains approximately 390 miles of water lines. In continuing to maintain a successful proactive Water Conservation Program, the LCU maintains safe sustainable water supplies to its customers. WASTEWATER collections maintains approximately 360 miles of collection systems to treatment facilities The new 1 million gallon per day East Mesa Reclamation plant provides high quality “purple pipe” irrigation water through advanced treatment processes. Our successful composting program produces safe beneficial Class A certified compost that is available at no charge to the public and area farmers.

REGULATORY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES : Provides technical services to the Utilities Department and the Joint Superfund Project. Section staff advise and assist the utilities director and section administrators in environmental management and regulatory compliance with laws, regulations, and programs at the federal, state and local levels. The water testing laboratory and Industrial Pollution Prevention operations are located in this section.

NATURAL GAS: Provides a safe, reliable supply of natural gas to the citizens of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County. It maintains, operates and manages two gas systems. The gas system consists of more than 1000 miles of gas lines that provide gas service to over 40,000 connections to residential, commercial, and industrial users.

SOLID WASTE: Provides residential and commercial solid waste service to residents and businesses within the City. The section’s goal is to provide safe, economical, environmentally sound, and aesthetic solid waste management.
