to a community of almost 100,000 people. We service approximately 30,000 connections for water, wastewater, and solid waste and 40,000 gas connections.

Las Cruces Utilities provides services within the Las Cruces city limits and in extraterritorial areas surrounding the City.  Our team includes qualified utility operators, technicians, professional engineers, and experts trained and certified in administrative, technical and regulatory utility services.

Las Cruces Utilities is a City Department that operates as a non-profit enterprise; we are not funded by tax dollars. Instead, we provide utility services to residents and businesses, and charge for those services.  To better manage the size of our Utilities operations and many federal and state regulatory compliance matters surrounding a multi-service utility, Las Cruces Utilities is governed by the Utilities Board of Commissioners, who provide strategic policy direction.

Our Director is Jorge A. Garcia, PhD, P.E. Dr. Garcia has been the Director of Utilities for the City of Las Cruces since 2001.  He is responsible for management, operation, planning, and development of gas, water, wastewater, and solid waste services.

We encourage the Las Cruces community to become familiar with our operations and current events.  Our educated and informed customers are our best resource in assisting us in maintaining the sustainability of our valued water resources, waste management, and environmental stewardship.
