Arrive at a bus stop five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Check the destination sign for route number (above the windshield). Wait in a location where you are visible to the operator, yet away from the curb. After the bus arrives, check for passengers that may be leaving the bus through the front door before you board the bus. If you have any question about the route, ask the driver when you board the bus. Please stay behind the white line while bus is in motion.

Unless you bought a pass, you need exact change or tokens. All buses have electronic fare boxes that accept the following fare payments; $1, $5, $10 & $20 dollar bills as well as 1¢, 5¢, 10¢ 25¢ & 50¢, $1 coins.

You are welcome to sit in any available seat on the bus. Remember that seats near the front are reserved for elderly or disabled passengers. If you do not require these reserved seats, please yield your seat to an elderly or disabled rider when necessary.

Sit closest to the window if you don’t want someone climbing over you for a seat. Sit on the aisle so you can get up and out more easily when your stop comes. If all seats are taken you may have to stand. Move toward the back, so you can be in a position to grab a seat when one opens. All passengers are encouraged to use seats if they are available. Do not place personal items in the seat next to you if it is needed by another passenger.

Transfers between bus routes are easy and free. Transfers are issued only upon request at the time a fare is paid. You may transfer up to two times on the same transfer card in order to complete a one-way trip. The transfer is not valid for re-boarding the same bus or to begin a new one-way trip. Expired transfers will not be accepted.

Most buses have a cable that runs above the windows that you can pull or a signal bar near the window that you can press. Drivers must announce major stops and intersections. If you’re uncertain as to where you stop is, tell the driver when you board which stop you are looking for, and try to sit near the front of the bus so you can hear the stop announcement. When the bus comes to a complete stop exit from the back when possible. Once you’re off the bus, don’t cross the street until the bus has pulled away.

The Central Transfer Point (CTP) located at 180 W Amador (the old "Amador Hotel'). It is the downtown location where buses meet and you can transfer from one bus to another. Other Transfer points include the Mesilla Valley Mall (near the Food Court) and at the intersection of Venus and Northrise streets.

Time points help you determine when your bus will arrive. Time points are shown on your bus map and bus schedule. Bus operators will not run the bus ahead of the scheduled departure times posted in the bus schedule for each time point. If your bus stop is not a time point, the bus will arrive at your stop a few minutes after it leaves the last time point before your stop.

Operators attempt to stay on schedule, but at times there are unavoidable delays . Reasons for delays include traffic jams, accidents, detours, breakdowns or adverse weather conditions. When these situations occurs buses may have to make some last minute detours. This may unfortunately cause the bus to be late or miss your bus stop. On the front of the bus is a bicycle rack that can accommodate up to two bikes. This service is free but on a first-come, first served basis. If you’re loading a bike, remove any loose accessories such as water bottles or pumps that might fall off in transit before the bus arrives at your stop. Lift and load and secure your bike by extending the available hook and fitting it snugly over the bike’s front tire. If the bike rack is full, you’ll have to wait for the next bus. When you reach your stop remind the driver you will be retrieving your bike from the rack. Always place the bike rack in an upright locked position after removing the bike. how to load a bike.

Most RoadRUNNER buses are "low-floor" vehicles that have accessible ramps; a few buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts. there are two securement areas on each bus. If you are sitting in the priority seating section, you may be asked to give up your seat. All RoadRUNNER Transit buses are wheelchair accessible.

On weekdays (Monday - Friday), RoadRUNNER Transit buses start operations 6:30 a.m. and end operations at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, operations start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m.. There is no Sunday Service. Customer Service hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

You may obtain a bus schedule by mail or at the following locations; Roadrunner Transit Office at 1501 E. Hadley Bldg A., City Hall, Branigan Library, DACC Room #115, NMSU Corbett Center, Mesilla Valley Mall Customer Service desk, and all three Albertsons locations. They are also available on all buses. Some riders can qualify for reduced fare. RoadRUNNER offers half fare to persons with disabilities, medicare recipients, and senior citizens age 60 and older. Half fare is available only on RoadRUNNER’s fixed-route service. Persons with disabilities must apply to receive a free RoadRUNNER Transit-issued reduced fare card or have such a card from another public transportation system.

Any eligible rider may apply for a Reduced Fare Card at the Roadrunner Transit Office located at 1501 E. Hadley Bldg A, Monday thru Friday. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Service animals are welcome and ride free-of-charge. All other animals must be in a cage with a secured, covered top and will be allowed on the bus as long as space is not required for other passengers.

Smoking, eating, or drinking on the bus is not allowed. Containers with lids (e.g. travel mugs, baby bottles, and water bottles) are allowed. Firearms and hazardous materials (e.g., batteries, gasoline) are also prohibited on the bus. Use of audio devices without earphones and disruptive behavior is prohibited. Baby carriages, strollers, or small shopping carts, which cannot be readily collapsed or secured so that they do not block aisles or present an impediment to other passengers, are prohibited on the bus.

Transit customers will be limited to 4 paper grocery bags or two plastic grocery bags substituted for every paper bag (up to 8 plastic grocery bags). Passengers or their aides are responsible for handling their own carry-on items and keeping aisles cleared.

Dial-A-Ride operates in the same service area and during the same days and hours as RoadRUNNER Transit. Dial-a-ride is design to help persons with disabilities and senior citizens who are not able to utilize the regular bus service. Dial-a-Ride offers fully accessible curb-to-curb service; ride appointments can be scheduled one day before the desired ride and up to two weeks in advance. Dial-A-Ride does not operate on Sundays or on certain holidays so check in advance before planning your trips. We welcome suggestions and comments on Dial-A-Ride services.
