The Mission of Munson Center is to promote and enhance the physical, intellectual and social wellbeing of people 50+ who live in Las Cruces.
Senior Programs Organizational Chart
The Robert B. Munson Center is the only senior center in the City of Las Cruces. The Center was built in 1977 and remodeled in 2010. Senior Programs does offer programs for those age 50+ in other centers throughout the City of Las Cruces. The centers where Senior Programs offers programs are Munson Center, Eastside Community Center, Henry Benavidez Community Center and Mesilla Park Recreation Center. Soon a new location will open that will offer programs through Senior Programs—the Sage Café on the East Mesa will open sometime in 2011.
The Senior Programs recreation program provides many opportunities for creativity, learning and socialization and offers many health and wellness classes. At Munson there are many options offered through our recreation programs:

Senior Programs also provides a Resource Center.
The Resource Center is located inside Munson Center and is schedules blocks of time for outreach at our other centers. The primary purpose of the Resource Center is to provide information, referral, assistance, and advocacy services to older adults and their family caregivers. Senior Center staff and trained volunteers provide information by phone, in person and by mail. Bi-lingual staff is available to assist in both English and Spanish. The Munson Center staff works closely with the Senior Programs In-Home Services staff when Munson Center participants are in need of services in their home. The Resource Center staff is available for drop-in visits and encourages appointments for those who may require additional resources.
Senior Programs provides In-Home Services.
One of the services offered through In-Home Services is Case Management. The focus of High Risk Case Management is to provide a high level of comprehensive wrap-around services to individuals at risk for out-of-home placement. There are eligibility guidelines that must be met.
Another service provided by Senior Programs staff in In-Home Services is Meals on Wheels Services. The focus of the Meals on Wheels program is to aide individuals who have a disability or ailment that restricts them from being able to prepare their own meals independently and/or without risk. There are eligibility guidelines that must be met.
Another important service provided by Senior Programs staff in In-Home Services is Homemaker Services. The focus of the program is to aide individuals who have a disability or ailment that restricts them from being able to upkeep their home independently and/or without risk. There are eligibility guidelines that must be met. In-Home Services staff is a phone call away and are eager to make sure that those who qualify for services have their needs met quickly.
Senior Programs provides The Network.
The Network is the volunteer center for Senior Programs. The Network is comprised of volunteer opportunities for those ages 18 to 54. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offer volunteer opportunities for those ages 55 and older. The Network is actively seeking volunteers and welcomes anyone age 18 and over to speak with our Volunteer Coordinator and to get started ‘giving back’.
