Services
Emergency Services
The Las Cruces Fire Department is an all-hazard emergency response organization. Our services are delivered by 128 uniformed personnel who staff six Engine Companies and two Truck Companies, as well as four civilian support staff.
In 2009, the LCFD responded to over 15,000 calls for service, of which about 75% were related to emergency medical services. All of our firefighters are, at a minimum, licensed at the EMT-Basic level, although we are recognized by the State EMS Bureau as providing EMT-Intermediate level service. Several of our Engine Companies are staffed with Paramedics.
Special Response Teams
In addition to fire suppression and emergency medical services, the LCFD also offers special response teams including technical rescue services, hazardous materials response and aircraft rescue and firefighting.
Community Services
The LCFD strives to be a community leader. In addition to providing fire and emergency services we also serve our community by providing the following:
- The Vecino Program:
("vecino" is Spanish for "neighbor") assists homebound persons by providing them with community contact via telephone. Firefighters call our vecinos each morning for a short chat!
- Blood Pressure Checks
are free and available at each fire station. Simply stop by and get your pressure checked!
- Building Plans Review
to ensure that all construction meets the latest building life safety and fire protection requirements, fire code enforcement, fire and arson investigation and public education.
- Home and Business Fire Safety Inspections
Business inspections are scheduled on an annual basis, and home inspections are by request only.
- Fire Extinguisher Training
for businesses and citizens.
