The Las Cruces Fire Department (LCFD) proudly serves New Mexico's second largest city with 124 professional Firefighters (who are licensed EMTs) and 4 civilian employees. The department responds to over 17,500 calls for service annually with seven engine companies, two truck companies, a battalion chief, and several support vehicles. In addition to fire suppression and emergency medical services, LCFD also offers special response teams that provide technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and aircraft rescue firefighting.
LCFD is organized into two divisions: Administration and Operations.
The Administration Division oversees Prevention Services, Emergency Medical Services, Logistics, Safety and provides for the overall management of the department.
Operations is responsible for emergency responses and training. The division responds to fires of all types, medical emergencies, aircraft fire and rescues, hazardous material incidents and technical rescues. To provide a timely response, seven fire stations are strategically located throughout Las Cruces. Each fire station houses an engine company and is staffed 24 hours per day. Additionally, Stations 1 and 4 house a ladder truck company. The fire department offers engine-based paramedic services on several of its apparatus.
