Foster a Pet
A Volunteer Foster Parent is someone willing and able to take a shelter animal into their home temporarily in order to give the animal the care he or she needs so that he or she may be adopted into a permanent home. Fostering can:
- Prevent a young or medically vulnerable animal from becoming infected with a shelter illness;
- Provide continuous monitoring and administration of medication to an ill or injured animal more often than shelter staff can reasonably perform;
- Provide care for underage animals including:
- A mother cat or dog with a litter of kittens or puppies;
- A litter of kittens or puppies without a mother; or
- A single puppy or kitten without a mother; and
- Provide training and socialization to improve their chances of adoption.
A Foster Application must be filled out and approved prior to taking an animal home.
The following form must be downloaded and filled out EXCEPT for the signature applicant's signature. The form must then be submitted to ASCMV staff, who must be present to witness the signature.
