Artists’ talk featuring The New Romantic: Views of the 20th Century Landscape 2017
Both artists’ work mirrors their concern for the often-destructive human impact on the environment. Greene’s oil paintings, crafted in a style reminiscent of Romantic-era paintings, depict landscapes littered with the detritus of human consumption, alluding to the death throes of nature caused by the industrial era. Das Gupta’s multi-media installations reflect upon humanity’s assaults on the natural world while hinting at the possibility of regeneration.
