Housing and Family Services
Housing and Family Services addresses community needs related to affordable housing, public services funding, and public infrastructure improvements intended to improve the lives of low and moderate-income residents and neighborhoods of the community. All of the HUD-funded programs comply with the City's Consolidated Plan.
The Action Plan 2018 is entering the public comment phase. This will be from March 2, 2018 - April 2, 2018. The City has also completed an administrative amendment to the 2016-2020 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice. This will be accomplished through an amendment to the 2017 Action Plan. The Home Rehabilitation program assists low to moderate-income homeowners to bring their homes up to current codes and standards. The Mobile Home Ramp program assists disabled, low income occupants to get a wheelchair ramp for their mobile home.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds a variety of public service and infrastructure programs.
City Health Care Grants provide funding to various non-profit organizations that provide health care services to low and moderate-income individuals.
Housing for the Homeless programs funds various programs such as the Shelter + Care (housing for disabled homeless persons), Tenant Based Rental Assistance, and Transitional Housing programs.

Keep Your Home New Mexico Program
Any Las Cruces homeowners struggling with their mortgage or facing foreclosure may find assistance with the “Keep Your Home New Mexico” program supported by the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office. The program is designed to provide direct foreclosure prevention services to homeowners who are struggling with their mortgage loan.
This unprecedented effort is a statewide collaboration between the Attorney General’s office and several non-profit agencies that provide direct housing counseling and foreclosure legal defense services to struggling homeowners.
