Valley Drive Construction Project

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is planning for improvements along Valley Drive (NM 188), from Avenida de Mesilla (NM 28) to Picacho Avenue (US 70), and along Avenida de Mesilla from Hickory Loop to Valley Drive. The project is intended to provide capacity for through traffic, to maintain access and circulation for local businesses and property owners, to enhance bicycle and pedestrian travel, and to improve drainage in the area.

Anticipated start date: Summer 2017

Resolution 16-078 – September 21, 2015: Resolution authorizing the Public Works Director to negotiate a road transfer agreement between the City of Las Cruces and the New Mexico Department of Transportation to accept jurisdiction over Valley Drive from Avenida de Mesilla to the northern most city limits.

Resolution 17-094 – November 7, 2016: Resolution approving the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the City of Las Cruces and the New Mexico Department of Transportation and authorize the City Manager to execute a road transfer agreement accepting jurisdiction of Valley Drive from Avenida de Mesilla to the northern city limits.
