Signs

Signs in Las Cruces must comply to the Sign Code.  A sign permit is required for all types of signs within the City. Examples include commercial and identification signs, construction signs, real estate signs, temporary displays such as portable signs and banners, other off-premise advertising signs, and other related project signs. A permit is also required to move an existing sign to reflect a new business.

Specific areas of the city may also have special provisions that must be met. Areas such as the Avenida de Mesilla Gateway District, the Central Business District and the University Avenue Corridor District, have provisions which regulate not only sign size and placement but sign materials, graphics and other design factors. The sign application process is basically the same in any area.

A sign permit application with appropriate information must be submitted to the Community Development Department.  The Sign Administrator may assist you with all your questions.
