Electrical Certificate
of Occupancy or Completion
No building or structure shall be used or
occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification
of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made until
the Building Official has issued a Certificate of Occupancy or
Completion as provided herein.
After the electrical inspectors
inspect the building or structure and find no violations of the
provisions of the Building Code or other laws which are enforced
by the City, the Building Official shall issue a Certificate of
Occupancy or Completion which shall contain the following:
-
The building permit number.
-
The address of the building.
-
The name and address of the owner.
-
A description of the building for which the
certificate is issued.
-
A statement that the described portion of the
building has been inspected for compliance with the requirements
of the Building Code for the group and division of occupancy and
the use for which the proposed occupancy is classified.
-
Name and signature of the Building Official.
Issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy or
Completion shall not be construed as an approval of a violation of
the provisions of the Building Code or of other ordinances of the
city. Certificates presuming to give authority to violate or
cancel the provisions of the Building Code or other ordinances of
the City shall not be valid.
The Building Official may, in writing, suspend
or revoke a Certificate of Occupancy or Completion issued under
the provisions of the Building Code when it is determined that the
building or structure or portion thereof is in violation of any
ordinance or regulation of the City. |
