Building/Reroof Inspection Process

After the issuance of permit, construction may commence on your project. During this phase of development, inspections are required to ensure that your project is in compliance with the approved plans and/or all rules and regulations governing construction. To ensure your project is completed safely, several types of inspections are conducted. The following information is provided to explain the various types of inspections that are conducted and for what purpose.

It shall be the duty of the permittee doing the work authorized by a permit to notify the Community Development Department that such work is ready for inspection. Inspections shall require that every request for inspection be filed at least one working day before such inspection is desired. Such requests shall be in writing, fax, telephone, e-mail, or through our website at the option of the permittee. Fill in the following information and we will process your inspection request right away!

Contractors Name:
Address of Construction Site:
Type of Inspection:
Permit Number:
Contractor's Phone Number:

Email it to rkyle@las-cruces.org for a prompt response.

Inspection requests shall be processed to an inspector as soon as possible to avoid any unnecessary delays during construction. The inspector's goal is to complete all inspection requests within eight business hours of the request.

The City requires that a complete set of approved drawings for the construction project be present for the appropriate inspectors while the inspection is being conducted.

The building inspectors, upon notification, shall make the inspections and shall either approve that portion of the construction as completed or shall notify the permittee with a correction notice of any code/ordinance violation adopted by the City.
