HOME Investment Partnerships Program

Neighborhood Program Specialist

Jan Lauterbach - (575) 528-3134

The City of Las Cruces provides annual grant assistance through HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) entitlement funds received from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a part of the continuing objective to assist low- and moderate-income families and residents receive and live in safe, decent, and affordable housing.

HOME funds are awarded to partnering agencies on an annual competitive basis to implement activities which meet the eligible criteria as established by HUD and the goals and objectives as defined in the City’s Consolidated Plan.

The HOME Program Year is from July 1st through June 30th each year. The application process starts in November and continues through a public process which concludes with City Council approval of the recommended projects.

Non-profit Organizations are encouraged to apply for funds to serve low-income and moderate-income clients as defined by HUD income guidelines.  Funding priorities are for projects/activities that provide affordable housing opportunities  for first-time homebuyers, rental housing and single-family, owner-occupied housing development.   Some of the HOME Program Partners include:  the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority, the Housing Authority of the City of Las Cruces, Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity, the Construction Trades Partnership, Inc., Tierra del Sol Housing Corporation, the Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico, and Las Cruces Affordable Housing, Inc.
