The City of Las Cruces provides annual grant assistance through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement funds received from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a part of the continuing objective to assist Public Service agencies and eligible construction activities that serve low-income and moderate-income city residents.

The City of Las Cruces offers two types of CDBG programs each year:

CDBG Construction/Infrastructure

CDBG Public Service

The CDBG Program Year is from July 1st through June 30th each year. The application process starts in November and continues through a public process which concludes with City Council approval of the recommended projects. Applicants are awarded funding on an annual competitive basis to implement activities which meet the eligible criteria as established by HUD and the goals and objectives as defined in the City’s Consolidated Plan. All applications are due to the Community Development Department, Room 147, City Office Center, 575 S. Alameda Blvd.   E-mailed applications will not be accepted.

Non-profit Organizations are encouraged to apply for funds to serve low-income and moderate-income clients as defined by HUD income guidelines. Funding opportunities are also available for programs which exclusively serve abused children, battered spouses, elderly persons, adults meeting the of the Census Bureau definition of "severely disabled," homeless persons, illiterate adults, persons living with AIDS, and migrant farm workers.
