Art and Education
The Museum of Art hosts traveling exhibits and features the works of regionally and nationally known artists. The exhibits change several times a year and are often accompanied by lectures, programs, and demonstrations. The Studio Program also offers classes in drawing & painting, ceramics, weaving, digital photography, and other media.

The Las Cruces Museum of Art strives to engage and inspire its diverse audience through contemporary art exhibitions, public programming, and educational activities.

Admission
Admission to the Museum of Art is FREE.
The museum is ACCESSIBLE and open to the public.

Hour after Hour of Thought and Analysis
Installations by Susan Murrell
June 6 – August 16, 2008

Large scale installations featuring drawing, painting and encaustic. Layered biomorphic imagery inspired by scientific textbooks exploring the known and unknown in the sciences.

Towards an Architecture of Contemplation

Works by William Helm

Architectural site and design models, drawings, and digital film projection.  A contemplative investigation of the desert landscape and phenomena reminiscent of a monastic cloister.

The Architecture of Time
Works by Dana Kroos and Laura Scandrett

Two-person exhibition. Stoneware sculpture by Dana Kroos Work and mixed media drawings by Laura Scandrett. The dealing with the passage of time and how it is recorded in the landscape and human figure.

The Studio Programs Student Art Exhibition
July 18 – August 16, 2008

Recent works created in Museum Studio Program adult and kids' art classes will be on exhibit in the Main Gallery featuring the works of adults and children.  Mediums include drawing, painting, mixed media and ceramics.

Rodin: In His Own Words
Selections from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation
September 5 – November 22, 2008

The exhibition features 35 bronze sculptures by Auguste Rodin, original letters written by the artist, and an educational exhibit about the lost-wax casting process. The work presented explores the range of Rodin’s artistic legacy and provides insight into his thought process through his own writings and quotations.

A public reception will be held Friday, September 5, 2008, 5:00–7:00pm.

Admission to the exhibition is FREE.

This exhibition is organized and made possible by the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation.

Great Ceramics from the Arizona State University Art Museum Collection

Collection of 81 masterworks by leading national and international artists.  Works on display range from functional ware to expressive sculptural forms.
