Nathan is serving his second term as Las Cruces City Councilor for District 4. He continues to focus on existing neighborhoods, expanding economic opportunity, and City sustainability.
Nathan is a third generation New Mexican, who attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH and earned dual degrees in English and Philosophy. After working on a commercial fishing vessel in Alaska and graduating from college, he returned home. A lifelong outdoorsman and sportsman, Nathan enjoys the outdoor education and recreation opportunities near Las Cruces and also works with the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance.
Nathan received the 2012 Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces’ Citizen of The Year Award and the 2011 Excellence in Range Management Award from the NM Section of Society for Range Management. He is married to the amazing Xochitl Torres Small.
