Water Conservation

Notice of Public Input Meeting

The City of Las Cruces Utilities will host a public meeting to discuss the Proposed Water Conservation Program Regulations. The regulations further define the administration of the recently updated Water Conservation Ordinance, water waste prohibitions, watering restrictions, and a compliance process. The public will have opportunity to provide written comments at the meeting.

The meeting is on Wednesday, September 24, at 5:00pm at the Utilities Administration Building, 680 N. Motel Blvd, Las Cruces, NM 88007. For more information contact Leslie Kryder at (575) 528-3549 or Lkryder@las-cruces.org.

Warm Season Watering Restrictions are in Effect

The City Water Conservation Ordinance provides a schedule for allowable outdoor watering. This applies to residential and commercial properties.

All Year

  • Mondays - no outdoor watering
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays - outdoor watering for even-numbered addresses
  • Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays - outdoor watering for odd-numbered addresses

April 1st through September 30th

  • Time of day restrictions - watering is allowed before 10am and after 6pm only, to reduce water lost to evaporation.

Allowing water to flow off your property onto the sidewalk or street is considered water waste.

Water Conservation Surveys

We're conducting two surveys to find out how we can help Las Cruces area home buyers conserve water. Please take a few moments to complete one of these surveys if you are a recent or prospective home buyer or a realtor.

Survey for Home Buyers

Please tell us what you need to know! This is a 10 question survey to learn more about what home buyers want and need to know about water conservation. It's intended for people who are about to buy, or just bought, a house. We're especially interested to hear from people who are new to the area (less than 5 years, ideally). It will be used to help us develop resource material for home buyers. Click the link to take the Survey for Home Buyers.

Survey for Realtors

Tell us how we can help you promote water conservation to your customers. The information we gather will be used to help us develop resource materials for realtors. Please take a few minutes to complete this 10 question Survey for Realtors.

Water is a limited and precious resource that we must all share.
Please use it wisely.
