Welcome to the Legal Services Department.
Mission Statement: To develop creative and innovative solutions and positive outcomes to legal and non-legal problems confronting the City of Las Cruces and its citizens.
The Legal Services Department includes:
- City Attorney’s Office. The City Attorney’s Office provides effective legal representation to the City Council, City Manager and City Departments in general municipal, public liability, general litigation and administrative matters.
City Clerk’s Office. The City Clerk’s Office prepares all City Council meeting agendas, is responsible for the care of the official records and documents of the City, and conducts all municipal and special elections held by the City.
- The City Attorney will discuss the Las Cruces Municipal Code, City Council agenda items or other City-related questions. However, the City Attorney is not permitted to give legal advice to citizens.
